“Trailer Park Boys’ Star Mike Smith Accused of Sexual Assault”

Featured in:

Mike Smith, renowned for his role as Bubbles in the popular TV series “Trailer Park Boys,” is facing charges of sexual assault. The accusation dates back to an incident on Dec. 30, 2017, in Dartmouth, N.S., as per court documents lodged in Nova Scotia provincial court on Oct. 2. It is important to note that the allegations are yet to be proven in court.

In response to the charges, Smith has been directed not to contact the alleged victim, whose identity remains protected by a publication ban, or go to their school, workplace, or residence. Following these developments, Trailer Park Boys Inc. announced that Smith has voluntarily stepped down from his position as the company’s managing director.

The company issued a statement acknowledging the seriousness of the allegation and expressing their commitment to respecting the legal process. They refrained from further comments on the case. Despite attempts by CBC News to reach out to Smith’s representatives and legal counsel for input, no response has been received as of now.

Smith, along with his co-stars Robb Wells and John Paul Tremblay, has garnered international recognition through the “Trailer Park Boys” franchise over the past two decades. The series has amassed a dedicated fan base since its debut in 2001, airing on various platforms such as Netflix and Crave, as well as the show’s own streaming service.

In a notable development, the trio acquired the rights to the franchise in 2013. Recently, Trailer Park Boys Inc. announced the completion of filming for Season 13, slated to air in 2026, marking the return of the show after a hiatus since 2018. Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, the company remains focused on delivering the long-awaited new season to their loyal fans.

This is not the first time Smith has faced legal issues. In 2016, he was arrested in Los Angeles on charges of misdemeanor domestic battery, stemming from an incident at a Hollywood hotel. Smith and the alleged victim later released a joint statement refuting the accusations, citing a disagreement between friends. The charges were eventually dropped due to insufficient evidence, as confirmed by the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office.

Smith is scheduled to appear in court in Halifax on Monday to address the current sexual assault allegations.
