Legendary rock band Rush has teased a special surprise at the upcoming 2026 Juno Awards to be held in Hamilton this Sunday. In a newsletter to fans, the band hinted at a unique moment with Geddy & Alex and included a link to purchase tickets for the event on March 29.
Last fall, Rush’s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson confirmed plans for a 2026 tour, which will feature Anika Nilles as the new drummer, replacing the late Neil Peart who passed away from brain cancer in 2020. Nilles, a talented German drummer known for her popular YouTube channel and past work with Jeff Beck in 2022, received praise from Lee during an interview in 2023.
While details remain scarce, if Rush performs at the Juno Awards, it will be the first opportunity for fans to witness the current lineup in action before their upcoming world tour named Fifty Something. The tour commences in Los Angeles in June, with four shows scheduled at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto in August, along with stops in Vancouver and Edmonton in December.
Since their formation in Toronto in 1968, Rush has released numerous successful albums, achieving 24 gold, 14 platinum, and three multi-platinum records over the years. Recently, on March 13, the band released “Grace Under Pressure: Super Deluxe,” a box set featuring their iconic 1984 concert at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens, considered a pinnacle of their creative prowess by many fans.
Having won 10 Juno Awards in total, Rush secured their first award in 1975 for most promising group, followed by consecutive wins for group of the year in ’78 and ’79. Notably, the band received the inaugural Juno Award for best hard rock/metal album in 1991 for their 13th album, “Presto.”
CBC Music has made attempts to contact the band for additional comments.
