A new TV judge has entered the scene, and he has quite a challenge ahead. CBS Media Ventures unveiled a preview on Thursday for “Adam’s Law,” a fresh daytime courtroom series starring Adam Levy, the 58-year-old son of the renowned Judge Judy. If you appreciate the sharp humor, assertiveness, and no-nonsense approach of the famous TV judge, you’re in for a treat. The trailer showcases Levy embodying that same courtroom vigor, delivering clever and incisive remarks from the bench that would impress his mother, Judith Sheindlin.
Interestingly, Sheindlin initially had reservations about passing on the judicial role to her son. In the trailer, she humorously admits that she wouldn’t have encouraged him to take on the show five or ten years ago because she wasn’t prepared to relinquish her position. Sheindlin, the 83-year-old star of “Judge Judy,” jokingly expressed her reluctance to be surpassed by her talented son.
The upcoming series, executive produced by Sheindlin, is scheduled to debut on September 14. This launch comes five years after the conclusion of the original “Judge Judy” show, which enjoyed a successful 25-season run on CBS, ranking as a top-rated first-run syndicated program with an average of 10 million viewers per episode. Viewers can anticipate the same level of excitement and dedication to justice in “Adam’s Law” that made Judge Judy a household name.
Levy, with over 25 years of legal experience, including serving as a district attorney in New York’s Putnam County and teaching at prestigious institutions, is set to lead the show. He emphasized the importance of truthfulness for litigants on “Adam’s Law” in the trailer, expressing his disdain for demonstrably false statements. Sheindlin expressed confidence in her son’s abilities to carry on the family legacy, predicting that his show will rise to become the top daytime program.
Levy, familiar with courtroom reality TV, previously presided over shows like “Tribunal Justice” and “Justice on Trial” on Prime Video. “Adam’s Law” will be broadcast on various CBS-owned stations in the U.S., including CBS LA and WCBS-TV, and will also air in Canada on Citytv and Citytv+ starting September 14.
