Dan Levy found it difficult to express his emotions as he returned to the Ontario town where the popular TV series “Schitt’s Creek” was filmed for the first time post the show’s conclusion. Levy, the co-creator of the show, visited Goodwood, Ontario, as part of an extensive interview with CBS’s “Sunday Morning.” During the visit, he reminisced about the memories associated with the filming location, particularly the boutique shop called Rose Apothecary, which his character David operated in Season 3.
Levy, visibly emotional, removed his trademark black glasses to wipe away tears, reflecting on the impact of the show and the loss of his co-star and friend, Catherine O’Hara, who passed away at the age of 71 in January. O’Hara, a beloved Canadian actress known for her roles in iconic films like “Home Alone” and “Beetlejuice,” gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Moira Rose in “Schitt’s Creek.”
Levy shared his deep admiration for O’Hara’s talent and revealed that her unexpected death had influenced his perspective on the possibility of a show reboot. Despite previously considering a revival, Levy now cherishes the memories of the series and the character Moira brought to life by O’Hara.
Reflecting on their time working together, Levy fondly recalled O’Hara’s memorable scenes on the show, highlighting her comedic genius and the unforgettable moments they shared on set. He acknowledged the impact of “Schitt’s Creek,” a show he co-created with his father, Eugene Levy, which received acclaim and numerous awards during its successful run.
As Levy gears up for the premiere of his new Netflix sitcom, “Big Mistakes,” he remains focused on creating content that resonates with viewers, emphasizing the need to appreciate each project for its unique qualities without feeling the pressure of comparison to the beloved “Schitt’s Creek.”
