Hockey Canada revealed the official Olympic hockey uniforms for the upcoming Milan-Cortina Games, showcasing designs for the men’s, women’s, and Para teams. Athletes from Canada will have two jersey choices, one featuring a white base with a red maple leaf and the other with a red base and black maple leaf.
The maple leaf crests on the jerseys are designed with multiple tones to resemble a diamond, symbolizing the athletes’ resilience under immense pressure. Hockey Canada CEO Katherine Henderson emphasized that the jerseys embody the essence of Canadian hockey and the unwavering support of fans.
The unveiling of the Nike-designed jerseys took place during the intermission of the Canada vs. U.S. Rivalry Series opener. David Shoemaker, CEO of the Canadian Olympic Committee, highlighted that the jerseys represent the rich history and pride of Canada’s Olympic hockey legacy.
The Canadian women’s team will commence their gold medal defense on February 5, a day before the opening ceremony. The men’s team, including NHL players for the first time since the 2014 Sochi Games, will kick off their campaign on February 12. The Para hockey tournament is scheduled to start on March 6.
The upcoming Olympics and Paralympics are highly anticipated, with fans eagerly awaiting the competitions in Milan. The jerseys serve as a symbol of Canadian hockey tradition and are expected to be worn with pride by athletes and supporters alike as they aim to secure gold medals in Italy.
