There’s some worrying scenes on EastEnders next week, as well as plenty of drama ahead.
More than one character will take centre stage as a number of plots unravel. We have one heartbreaking decision by one character amid a health diagnosis, and soon someone is given food for thought leading to a plan. One killer is forced to act as their secret comes under threat once more, leading to some desperate action.
There’s characters making amends, and new opportunities for others amid a big decision. There’s an update on The Queen Vic’s rebuild too, while one worried mother tries to get their daughter on the right track.
The big story of the week is a sad confession by Nigel Bates, following his dementia diagnosis. The Walford favourite feels suffocated as Phil Mitchell continues to be overprotective with him in upcoming episodes.
He sees an opportunity to prove himself only to have a falling out with Harvey Monroe after he gets confused. It leads to questions being raised about his wellbeing, leading to Phil revealing all about his dementia diagnosis.
But there’s a concerning discovery in the fallout, when Phil realises his friend intends to end his own life if his memory continues to deteriorate. Phil confronts Nigel about it, and Nigel does his best to explain his reasons.
Phil ends up leaving though and refuses to listen. When Jean Slater arrives to speak with Nigel, the pair have a heart-to-heart about his dementia.
Meanwhile Phil seeks out Linda Carter to share his concerns, while she encourages him to support Nigel through his diagnosis. Soon Phil decides to head home and make amends with Nigel only to find his goodbye letter.
What he doesn’t know is Nigel is planning on fleeing Walford, leading to a search for the missing character when Phil cannot find him. His fears are raised when it’s revealed no one has seen him, but the panic is over when Phil tracks him down.
The pair make amends and Nigel agrees to return home. He soon breaks down though as he insists he wants to end his life before the dementia takes hold.
Phil tries to discourage Nigel from the sad decision but to no avail. He later comes up with a plan though when he’s given food for thought. Elsewhere, Teddy Mitchell and Junior Knight continue with their business plan and Teddy is forced to reveal all to his wife Nicola.
Nicola pleads with him not to go ahead with it but he refuses – unaware of the dark secret she is hiding. When she finds out the location of the site she’s reeling, as it’s revealed to be the same place where Benji buried Shireen’s body after Nicola caused her murder.
She hears that construction will begin at the site that week, and out of panic she summons Benji to the club. She’s left with no options though and asks Ravi Gulati to do a job for her.
She’s distracted later in the week, before offering Ravi £10,000 for the job she has for him. When she secures a van from The Arches, what exactly is she planning?
Also this week Priya Nandra-Hart encourages teen daughter Avani to spend time with her friends, and soon she and Barney Mitchell make amends. Zack Hudson is deflated when Barney refuses his offer to help with Tommy and Joel, and things soon go from bad to worse.
There’s an update on the rebuild of The Vic, but Kojo Asare isn’t happy about it and soon tells his brother George Knight that he wishes to live alone. To prove himself Kojo lands himself a trial shift at The Arches and he later secures a permanent job.
