Canadian figure skaters Kelly Ann Laurin and Loucas Éthier clinched the bronze medal in the pairs competition at Skate America held in Lake Placid, N.Y. The duo secured a total score of 182.87, with an impressive 121.58 points earned during the free skating segment, securing them the third-place finish. This marks their second bronze medal at Skate America, as they also claimed the third spot in the 2022 event with a score of 156.94.

In the same event, Japan’s Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara claimed the gold medal with a total score of 215.99 points. They dominated the free skating segment with a score of 141.57 points, securing the top position on the podium. Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava from Georgia secured the silver medal with a score of 195.73.

Kevin Aymoz of France celebrated his first Grand Prix victory in the men’s competition at Skate America after a challenging journey. Aymoz, a six-time French champion, had previously earned four silver medals at Grand Prix events. However, with a strong performance in the free skate in Lake Placid, he managed to surpass Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Shaidorov and Japan’s Kazuki Tomono to claim the gold medal with a total score of 253.53 points.

In the ice dance category, Olympic favorites Madison Chock and Evan Bates dazzled the audience with a rhythm dance inspired by Lenny Kravitz. The American pair, three-time reigning world champions, scored 84.77 points, leading the competition and holding a significant advantage over Canada’s Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagha going into the free dance event.

Rinka Watanabe of Japan showcased her brilliance in the women’s event with an outstanding short program performance, earning 74.35 points. This placed her ahead of reigning world champion Alysa Liu from the United States. The competition remains tight, with Liu trailing closely behind after scoring 73.73 points for her program.
