Canadian speedskater Valerie Maltais secured two silver medals on the last day of competition at the World Cup on Sunday. Maltais, hailing from Saguenay, Que., clinched second place in the women’s mass start with a time of 8 minutes 25.62 seconds. Mia Manganello from the United States claimed the gold with a time of 8:25.57, while Ji-Woo Park from South Korea took the bronze with a time of 9:01.80.

In the women’s team pursuit event, Maltais, along with Ivanie Blondin and Isabelle Weidemann, both from Ottawa, earned a silver medal with a time of 2:52.40. Japan secured the gold with a time of 2:52.13, and the United States took the bronze with 2:54.01.

Antoine Gelinas-Beaulieu from Sherbrooke, Que., also impressed by winning a bronze medal in the men’s mass start with a time of 7:40.31. Jorrit Bergsma from the Netherlands claimed the gold with a time of 7:39.20, and Felix Maly from Germany took silver with a time of 7:40.17.
