“Taylor Swift’s Music Removed from Trump Campaign Videos”

Featured in:

Some of Taylor Swift’s music has been taken down from social media videos shared by the campaign of U.S. President Donald Trump and the White House. The White House and a representative for Swift did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Swift has not recently addressed Trump directly, but she did endorse his Democratic opponent, then Vice-President Kamala Harris, in 2024. In the 2020 campaign, Swift made it clear on social media that she did not support Trump as president.

Trump has been openly critical of Swift. Following her endorsement of Harris, he expressed his dislike for Swift on social media. Other artists, such as Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have also urged the Trump administration not to use their songs.

The Trump campaign featured two Taylor Swift songs on their TikTok page over the past week. One video referenced Swift’s famous songs, including a caption alluding to “Red (Donald Trump’s Version).”

In a June video, Trump’s campaign used Swift’s song “I Knew It, I Knew You” from the fictional movie “Toy Story 5.” The video depicted Trump engaging with children at the White House, dancing at a UFC event, and attending a rally, with a caption praising his love for the country and its people.

This occurrence marked the third time the Trump administration or campaign utilized Swift’s music in recent months. In another instance, a video in April featured Swift’s “High Infidelity” along with lyrics mentioning April 29th.

Additionally, a TikTok video shared by the White House in November showcased Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” from the album “The Life of a Showgirl.” The video included images of the U.S. flag, monuments, and various photos of Trump, including a fictional 2023 arrest mugshot.

These videos sparked significant social media reactions, with a White House spokesperson defending the posts as a strategy to garner media attention. Trump’s communication team, known for its active social media presence, has incorporated popular songs into various posts, covering topics like immigration policies, military actions, and international events.
