In a recent interview with Variety, Tate McRae addressed the growing curiosity surrounding her political stance. The discussion arose following her collaboration with Morgan Wallen in 2025, her involvement in promoting Team USA during the 2026 Winter Olympics, and rumors of a relationship with NHL player Jack Hughes. McRae explained that she chooses to express her beliefs indirectly through the organizations she supports and the messages she conveys while on tour. One of her initiatives includes selling a hoodie through her merchandise store, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting The Trevor Project and the Global Fund for Women.

The controversy surrounding McRae’s political affiliations heightened after her collaboration with Wallen, who faced backlash in 2021 for using a racial slur. McRae also faced criticism for her participation in an NBC ad supporting Team USA. Despite the speculations and accusations, McRae has chosen to remain focused on her personal life, emphasizing the importance of maintaining privacy in her relationships and shielding herself from external distractions.
