The Prime Video show “Every Year After,” which is inspired by Carley Fortune’s popular novel “Every Summer After,” has been confirmed for a second season. Starring Sadie Soverall and Matt Cornett, and with Carley Fortune as the executive producer, the series premiered this summer.
The storyline of “Every Summer After” revolves around Percy and Sam, childhood friends whose bond was broken by a significant event that separated them. The narrative explores their complex love story as they reunite years later at a funeral.
The upcoming season of “Every Year After” will draw from the second book in Fortune’s series, titled “One Golden Summer,” set in Barry’s Bay, Ont. The focus shifts to Sam’s brother, Charlie, as he embarks on a long-awaited romance with Alice, a photographer seeking solace at her childhood cottage.
Prime Video’s head of global TV, Peter Friendlander, praised the widespread acclaim for “Every Year After,” highlighting the broad appeal of Carley Fortune’s storytelling and the strong connection viewers have developed with the Barry’s Bay setting.
Carley Fortune, a renowned journalist and bestselling author based in Toronto, has an impressive portfolio, including works such as “Meet Me at the Lake,” “Every Summer After,” “One Golden Summer,” “This Summer Will Be Different,” and “Our Perfect Storm.” “Meet Me at the Lake” was a finalist on Canada Reads in 2024, supported by fashion influencer Mirian Njoh, marking the first romance novel to be featured on the show.
