A chainsaw has been recalled in both Canada and the United States due to a safety concern related to laceration risks. The federal government has issued a recall and safety alert for the Milwaukee Tool M18 FUEL 12” and 14” top handle chainsaws, advising users to cease using them immediately. The alert highlights that the chain brake on these chainsaws may not effectively stop the chain from moving when activated, potentially leading to laceration hazards.
Milwaukee has identified that chainsaws bearing the letter “A” as the fourth character in their serial number are impacted by this issue. While no incidents or injuries have been reported in Canada as of October 21, one laceration incident has been reported in the U.S., along with two related incidents.
Individuals in possession of the recalled chainsaws are urged to contact Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation to arrange for a complimentary repair. To facilitate the repair process, users can register their tool on Milwaukee Tool’s eService Tool Support website to receive a prepaid shipping label for sending in their chainsaw.
For assistance, individuals can also reach Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation by phone at 833-953-2012, available from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday. Health Canada, in collaboration with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation, has initiated the recall effort.
