Montreal Canadiens forward Kirby Dach is set to be sidelined for the next four to six weeks following a foot fracture, as confirmed by the team on Sunday. To fill the void, the Canadiens have called up forward Joshua Roy from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Laval Rocket.
This injury adds to a series of setbacks for the Canadiens. Recently, the team revealed that forward Alex Newhook and defenseman Kaiden Guhle will be out for an extended period after undergoing surgical procedures. Newhook’s right ankle surgery will keep him off the ice for approximately four months, while Guhle’s surgery for a partially torn adductor muscle will lead to an expected absence of eight to 10 weeks.
Dach, who has contributed five goals and two assists in 15 games this season, will now be unavailable for a significant portion of the upcoming games.
