“Canadian Ship Stuck in Detroit River, U.S. Coast Guard Monitoring”

Featured in:

A large Canadian vessel, the Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin, measuring 225 meters, is currently stuck in the Detroit River, located between downtown Detroit and downtown Windsor. The U.S. Coast Guard is closely monitoring the situation, describing it as a “soft grounding.”

Fortunately, there have been no injuries, pollution incidents, or disruptions to marine traffic reported due to the vessel’s predicament. Two tug boats are positioned near the stranded ship, but due to poor visibility during the night, the re-floating operation is postponed until Saturday morning for safety reasons. The ship was en route to Quebec City before encountering this issue.
