“Canada, India, Australia Forge Tech Partnership at G20”

Featured in:

Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced a new collaboration between Canada, India, and Australia on emerging technologies during the G20 summit held in South Africa. The trilateral partnership is focused on enhancing supply chain diversity, promoting clean energy usage, and advancing the adoption of artificial intelligence.

This initiative marks a significant step in strengthening Canada’s ties with India following a period of tension, stemming from allegations by the RCMP linking New Delhi to the murder and extortion of Canadian citizens. The joint effort, known as the Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation Partnership (ACITI), underscores the commitment to leveraging the collective strengths of the three nations, with a particular emphasis on green energy innovation and resilient supply chains, including critical minerals.

The partnership also aims to explore the widespread implementation of artificial intelligence to enhance the quality of life for citizens. Plans are underway for officials from the three countries to meet in the first quarter of 2026 to advance the initiative further. Carney’s presence at the G20 summit in Johannesburg coincided with the endorsement of a joint declaration by most leaders, despite the absence of U.S. representation.

The declaration encompasses key issues such as climate change, women’s rights, and the Middle East, areas where the U.S. administration under President Donald Trump had previously expressed reservations.
