Celebrity Big Brother expert reveals ‘real reason’ for Chris Hughes and JoJo Siwa’s close bond

A body language expert has examined the close bond between Celebrity Big Brother‘s Chris Hughes and JoJo Siwa, revealing that their tactic relationship is “totally normal”. CBB fans have watched over the last few nights as the two stars grew closer together – with Chris even tickling JoJo’s back in bed.

While during last night’s show, the pair were caught on camera communicating secretly, with JoJo drawing a message into Chris’ hand and telling him to “think about it”.

Now, a body language expert has spoken out about their bond – and said that she doesn’t think that it’s romantic. Dr Beth Dawson said in partnership with Mecca Bingo: “I’ve watched their interactions closely, and to me, what we’re seeing isn’t romance, it’s just human behaviour under pressure.

“This kind of dynamic is totally normal in confined, high-stress environments. It helps explain why people can suddenly feel drawn to each other during tense moments and why so many workplace romances happen, for example. It all comes down to a mix of psychology, biology, and social dynamics.”

She added that flirtation can become a “pressure valve” in restrained environments like the CBB house and that it’s not “necessarily about anting someone romantically”.

Beth said: “Flirting is one of the quickest ways to create a bond. It’s not always about attraction: sometimes it’s about comfort, survival, or strategy.

“That’s what I think we’re seeing with Chris and JoJo. There’s a moment where Chris scratches JoJo’s back after a tense interaction with Mickey Rourke and to me, that is about reassurance and comfort than flirtation in the traditional sense.”

She added that flirting can be about “regulating emotions, building bonds, reclaiming control and sometimes even performing a version of yourself to others”. Therefore, Chris and JoJo’s bond is “an emotionally intelligent friendship that’s developed in a high-pressure setting”.

In tonight’s episode, JoJo and Chris’ fellow CBB stars start to turn on them as they receive their punishment for breaking the rules against secret communication.

When they are told that they must speak to each other through megaphones from now on, Daley Thompson tells the others: “That’s not a punishment, that’s a punishment for us. They’re laughing because they’re annoying us.

“You know it’s part of the plan. Every time they get a punishment and all that, they get the airtime.”
