Housemate Mickey Rourke left the Big Brother house after tension arose between him and Chris Hughes during a shopping task, it’s been revealed ahead of tonight’s episode. It comes following the news of Mickey’s exit last night.
It was announced yesterday evening that actor Mickey, 72, had “agreed” to leave Celebrity Big Brother following “unacceptable behaviour”. The news came after he had previously received a “formal warning” over “offensive and unacceptable” language, which led him to apologising to JoJo Siwa, 21.
His departure had been confirmed by ITV. A spokesperson for the show said last night: “[Mickey] has agreed to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House this evening following a discussion with Big Brother regarding further use of inappropriate language and instances of unacceptable behaviour.”
It’s now been reported that Big Brother spoke to him about a confrontation with Chris, 32, during a task and that “inappropriate sexual language” Mickey is said to have used to Ella Rae Wise, 24, was also brought up in the Diary Room discussion. Mickey apologised to Big Brother and is asked to leave the house, it’s been announced.
Spoilers for today’s episode reveal that his departure came after a pirate themed task, with the housemates – who are all dressed up for the task – in the garden at one point. JoJo is given the role of captain and JoJo says at one point: “Ahoy. How have things been going out here?” Trisha Goddard, 67, responds: “There is a rat amongst us, captain.”
JoJo says: “Step back in line, soldier.” It’s been announced that Chris, 32, steps out of line and looks at Mickey, and that Mickey steps out of line and confronts Chris. JoJo says: “Mickey… Ahoy.” Mickey says to Chris: “You looking at me?”
JoJo says to Mickey: “Ahoy. You’re not the captain of this ship. Ahoy. Back up soldier.” Mickey says to Chris: “Don’t eyeball me.” Chris responds: “Mickey it was a joke, f***ing …” Mickey says: “Don’t f***ing eyeball me. You c***.”
Danny Beard, 32, and JoJo both try to diffuse the situation, the spoilers reveal. Danny says: “He was joking. He was joking. He was joking.” Chris says: “F***ing stand there.” Mickey says: “What did he say?” Danny says: “He was joking.”
Danny and Daley Thompson, 66, are said to attempt to diffuse the situation whilst stood between Mickey and Chris. Chris says: “Mickey, it was a joke.” Big Brother says: “This is Big Brother. Mickey, come to the diary room immediately.” Mickey points to the ground and says: “No, your a** will be right there in a second.” Big Brother says again, “Mickey, come to the diary room immediately.” Mickey then heads to the Diary Room.
Following a conversation with Big Brother in the Diary Room about his behaviour, Mickey returns to the garden and apologises to Chris. Mickey then heads inside.
It’s stated in the spoilers released by ITV today that Chris says to other housemates at one point: “Mickey’s just Mickey, you know what I mean.” Ella replies: “It’s fine – you can be just someone, but be mindful of what it can trigger in other people, because it’s made me feel very uneasy.” Ella is said to then reference a comment Mickey made earlier in the day.
Whilst in the Diary Room, Big Brother says to him: “Mickey, Big Brother needs to speak to you about your behaviour. […] Earlier today in a disagreement with Chris, your language and behaviour was threatening and aggressive. Big Brother does not tolerate threatening language or behaviour. In addition, you have used inappropriate sexual language to Ella.”
Mickey comments “Oh, I’m not aware of that but okay.” Big Brother tells him: “This language has caused offence to your fellow housemates and could cause offence to the viewing public. This is not the first time Big Brother has had to speak to you about your offensive and inappropriate language.”
The actor – known for his roles in films like 9½ Weeks (1986) and the Wrestler (2008) – apologises in the Diary Room and says that he takes responsibility for “doing the wrong thing,” according the newly-released spoilers. It’s stated that he tells Big Brother that he’s “ashamed” for “losing it”.
Mickey tells Big Brother: “Yes sir. I did wrong. I apologise. I’m sorry. I can’t take it back, you know, I stepped over the line. And I take responsibility for doing the wrong thing. ‘Cause I lost my temper, and I’ve been trying to work on it my whole life and I wish I would have had better self-control and I’m very sorry.”
He continues: “I’m ashamed of myself for losing it for a few seconds there. Nobody got touched or hurt. Maybe some feelings got hurt or maybe others have feelings about others getting upset but, you know, I’m sorry about that.”
The housemate is told: “Big Brother considers your language and behaviour today to be seriously unacceptable and as a result Big Brother has no option but to ask you to leave the Big Brother house. […] Mickey, is there anything else you’d like to say?”
Mickey replies: “I blame myself, I know it was my bad. You know, I’ve got a short fuse and I know I upset a lot of people out there, you know. And I’m sorry for that. I’m actually ashamed of myself for getting that hot. I went over the line, you know, I did wrong. I guess, like they say, I’m a work in progress. I just wanna pack my bags and leave, you know. I wanted to leave yesterday actually but I wasn’t chosen.”
He had been among the three housemates at risk of being voted out in the first eviction on Friday night. Mickey – who had received a ‘killer nomination’ from JoJo – and Coronation Street star Jack P. Shepherd were saved though. Politician Michael Fabricant instead became the first housemate voted out.
Celebrity Big Brother continues tonight from 10pm on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player. It will be followed by companion show Late & Live at 11pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
