SeatGeek Canada Hit with $22,500 in Fines

Featured in:

SeatGeek Canada has been levied two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly breaching a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets at their original face value. Records on the province’s consumer alert platform indicate that the fresh fines handed to the ticket reselling platform this month add up to a total of $22,500.

The initial of the two fines, totaling $15,000, is linked to an accusation of offering a ticket for sale beyond the permitted resale price or facilitating such a transaction. The second fine, amounting to $7,500, pertains to an alleged failure in disclosing the complete ticket price when a ticket was bought from an original seller.

Neither the province nor SeatGeek Canada has promptly addressed inquiries regarding the specific events that led to the fines or whether the reselling entity intends to contest the penalties. In the past, the province had imposed fines of $25,000 on the company in August for comparable violations.
