“Calgary Luge Duo Eyes Olympic Glory in Women’s Doubles”

Featured in:

Canadian luge athletes Beattie Podulsky and Kailey Allan, both hailing from Calgary, have a history of traveling together to compete in luge World Cup events in chilly locations like Winterberg, Germany. Opting for a change this summer, the pair embarked on a two-week adventure in New Zealand and Fiji, exploring the countries in an RV, a stark contrast to their usual close quarters on the luge sled.

Their journey not only strengthened their friendship but also aimed at securing a spot in the inaugural Olympic women’s luge doubles event at the Milan-Cortina Olympics in 2026. With their sights set on the podium, Podulsky and Allan plan to showcase their chemistry when the World Cup season kicks off in Winterberg on December 5.

The addition of women’s doubles luge to the Olympic program marks a historic moment, providing a new challenge for athletes like Podulsky and Allan. The duo emphasized the importance of harmony in doubles luge, acknowledging the heightened intensity and unpredictability compared to singles events.

Despite the pressure and challenges ahead, Podulsky and Allan are determined to push through the rigorous training schedule leading up to the Olympics. Their shared passion for the sport and similar personalities have fueled their drive to succeed, culminating in a bronze medal win at the world championships last February.

As they gear up for the upcoming season, the Olympic hopefuls are focused on fine-tuning their skills and maintaining a strong mental outlook amidst the chaos of competitive luge racing. The road to the Olympics may be tough, but Podulsky and Allan are prepared to face the challenges head-on, aiming for success on the icy tracks of Milan-Cortina in 2026.
