“Russia Accuses Britain of Deadly Missile Strike in Bryansk”

Featured in:

The Russian government has accused British experts of playing a role in a fatal missile strike on the Russian city of Bryansk, utilizing British Storm Shadow missiles. The Kremlin stated that it would consider Britain’s involvement in the incident. The regional governor of Bryansk reported that the strike on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of six civilians and injuries to 37 individuals in what was described as a “terrorist missile attack.”

When asked about the possibility of a military response to the use of British missiles on Russian territory, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov mentioned that Russia would take the British participation into account. Peskov emphasized that the launch of the missiles would not have been feasible without British specialists, adding that Russia was aware of this fact and would factor it in.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova labeled the strike as premeditated and aimed at civilians, urging the United Nations to investigate the incident. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in a video address that the strikes targeted a Russian facility producing critical missile components. He mentioned that the plant manufactured electronics and components for Russian missiles used against Ukrainian cities and civilians.

In a separate incident in Kharkiv, Ukraine, local officials reported that a Russian drone strike hit a civilian establishment, resulting in two fatalities and five injuries. The mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, confirmed the deaths and stated that all wounded individuals were in serious condition. The attack also caused a fire at the business. Kharkiv, which is near the Russian border, has been a frequent target of Russian air attacks following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine mediated by U.S. envoys have been ongoing, with discussions possibly moving to Istanbul for the next round of talks. Previous sessions were held in the Turkish city last year, while talks with U.S. mediation took place this year in Abu Dhabi and Geneva.
