Gabriel Morris, a travel blogger who has been to 100 countries worldwide, has declared Greece as his top pick. The YouTuber, who runs the channel Gabriel Traveler with over 600,000 subscribers, shared a video explaining his choices.
His top five travel destinations included India, Nepal, Thailand, and Turkey, but Greece took the crown due to its “unreal islands, some of the nicest beaches in the world and the clearest water”.
He said: “Why I love Greece so much, it is a combination of factors. It is the feeling, the atmosphere, being on unreal islands in the Mediterranean with surreal landscapes.”
He added: “Many prefer the tropical island paradise. The weather, almost no rain so you can count on it being a beach day.
“When you get there you’re going to find some of the nicest beaches in the world and the clearest water. Like looking through glass.”
Other factors contributing to his love for Greece include the lack of bugs, delicious food, Greek music, and the ease of travel.
Gabriel revealed he’s visited 59 Greek islands in total, which may appear similar in videos but are “very different” in person.
He concluded: “Many of the countries that did not make this list are certainly countries that I really liked as well. It’s hard to rank when they’re so different and have different things to see.”
Despite the challenges that come with travelling around India, such as the “widespread garbage problem” and noise pollution, Gabriel chose it as his second favourite country due to its ‘great variety of things to see and places to experience’.
He said: “With India for me it’s more about getting out of the major cities. My favourite places in India are places like Rishikesh and Varanasi. Of course Goa, amazing beaches.”
He added: “I would say India is the place in the world with the greatest variety of things to see, places to experience. There are 22 official languages in India and thousands of dialects.
“So many different religions like Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Christian, Buddhist. Along with different religions comes different culture, and the variety of experiences if off the charts. How totally strange and unfamiliar it is if you’re coming from the West, or Thailand, or Japan, or South America.”
