“Former Migos Member Offset Shot Outside Florida Casino”

Featured in:

Offset, a former member of the well-known hip-hop group Migos, was shot outside a casino in Florida and is currently in stable condition, according to a spokesperson on Tuesday. Offset, who was previously married to Cardi B, was undergoing treatment at a hospital following the shooting on Monday night, although his specific condition is not confirmed. Authorities stated that the injuries were not life-threatening.

Over three years ago, Offset’s cousin and fellow Migos member, Takeoff, was fatally shot at a bowling alley in Houston. The recent shooting incident occurred after a disturbance outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, north of Miami, as reported by the police. While one person sustained injuries, the victim’s identity was not disclosed.

Following the altercation, law enforcement detained two individuals, including a rapper known as Lil Tjay, identified as Tione Jayden Merritt, who was charged with disorderly conduct and driving without a valid license. Lil Tjay’s attorney, Dawn M. Florio, mentioned that he was not in possession of a weapon and faced no charges related to firearms. She confirmed that he posted bond and was expected to be released on Tuesday afternoon.

The second individual detained at the scene has not been formally charged, and investigators are in the process of identifying other parties involved, according to a police statement issued on Tuesday.

Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, rose to fame as part of Migos, a prominent hip-hop trio from Atlanta recognized for their distinctive rapid-fire triplet flow. Their success began with the hit song “Versace” in 2013, followed by several chart-topping singles like “Bad and Boujee,” “Stir Fry,” “Narcos,” and “T-Shirt.” After the tragic loss of Takeoff, Migos concluded their musical journey with four full-length albums.

Offset and Cardi B tied the knot secretly in Atlanta in September 2017, but Cardi B filed for divorce in 2024. They share three children together.

In the aftermath of Takeoff’s death, Migos member Quavo organized a summit against gun violence in 2024, aiming to turn tragedy into a catalyst for change. Takeoff was an innocent bystander in a fatal shooting outside a venue following a dispute over a dice game. His passing added to a series of violent incidents involving hip-hop icons like Nipsey Hussle, Pop Smoke, PnB Rock, and Young Dolph in recent years.

Offset pursued a solo career prior to Takeoff’s demise, showcasing a unique and aggressive style. He released three solo albums: “Father of Four” in 2019, “Set It Off” in 2023 – described as a return to traditional rap by Offset, and “Kiari” in 2025, reflecting his authentic self and rebellion against conforming to others’ expectations.
