At the 32nd Actor Awards presented by the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), the ensemble cast of the film “Sinners” emerged victorious, breaking the winning streak of “One Battle After Another” and setting the stage for a thrilling showdown at the upcoming Academy Awards. These awards are closely monitored as they often serve as a predictor for the Oscars, with actors playing a significant role in both award ceremonies.

The triumph of “Sinners,” directed by Ryan Coogler, indicates its strong potential to secure success at the Oscars, despite the numerous accolades garnered by Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” at prestigious events like the Golden Globes, Producers Guild Awards, BAFTAs, and Directors Guild Awards. The ceremony, streamed on Netflix from the Shine Auditorium in Los Angeles, witnessed Delroy Lindo expressing gratitude on behalf of the film’s cast.

In a surprising turn of events, Michael B. Jordan clinched the award for best male actor, surpassing the expected favorite, Timothee Chalamet, marking a significant milestone in Jordan’s esteemed career. The audience erupted in applause as Jordan, visibly taken aback, accepted the honor with humility and excitement.

Jessie Buckley secured the award for best female actor for her role in “Hamnet,” while Sean Penn and Amy Madigan earned accolades for best supporting male and female actors, respectively, for their performances in “One Battle After Another” and “Weapons.”

The late Catherine O’Hara was posthumously recognized for her outstanding portrayal in the comedy series “The Studio,” with Seth Rogen accepting the award on her behalf. The ceremony also honored Harrison Ford with the esteemed SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award, presented by Woody Harrelson in a light-hearted manner.

The event, live-streamed on Netflix and hosted by Kristen Bell, showcased a diverse array of talent and celebrated the exceptional contributions of actors across the entertainment industry. Notable winners included Keri Russell, Michelle Williams, Owen Cooper, and Noah Wyle in various categories, underscoring the depth of talent within the acting community. Additionally, the best stunt ensemble award was bestowed upon the Paramount production “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” adding to the evening’s diverse list of winners.
