New England Patriots standout wide receiver, Stefon Diggs, is currently facing serious criminal charges, including felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery, following an incident with his former private chef. The charges came to light after a recent court hearing in Dedham, Mass.
Diggs’ attorney, David Meier, vehemently refuted the allegations against his client, stating that they are baseless and unsubstantiated. Meier attributed the accusations to a financial dispute between Diggs and the chef that remained unresolved to her satisfaction.
In response to the situation, the Patriots organization has expressed their support for Diggs, affirming their solidarity with the player during this challenging time.
According to a police report filed in court, the private chef claimed that Diggs became enraged during a discussion about money and physically assaulted her, including allegedly attempting to choke her. The incident reportedly took place in December, with the chef initially hesitant to press charges until a recent change of heart.
Despite the legal issues, Diggs has made a significant impact on the field, establishing himself as a top NFL wide receiver with impressive statistics and accolades from his time with previous teams. His recent move to the Patriots on a lucrative contract has further solidified his position as a key player, contributing to the team’s success in securing the AFC East title.
Off-field controversies have also surrounded Diggs, notably a video that surfaced showing him in a questionable situation; however, the NFL declined to comment on the matter, leaving it to the Patriots to handle internally.
