Hyundai has issued a caution regarding the seatbelt system in select 2026 Palisade models. According to a notice on Transport Canada’s Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls Database, some vehicles may experience wiring damage in the third-row, left-hand side seatbelt when pulled. This wiring issue can lead to the seatbelt indicator falsely showing that the seatbelt is fastened when it is not, potentially causing confusion and raising the risk of injury in a crash.
Approximately 4,203 vehicles in Canada could be impacted by this seatbelt concern. Hyundai plans to inform affected drivers via written notification and recommend that they visit a dealership for the necessary seatbelt wiring repair. Alternatively, drivers can check if their car is affected by entering their vehicle identification number on Hyundai’s online recall lookup website or by calling 1-888-216-2626.
Earlier this year, Hyundai recalled numerous vehicles in the U.S. and Canada and halted sales of certain new Palisades due to a separate issue involving second and third-row power seats that continued moving upon detecting contact with a passenger or object. This recall was prompted by a tragic incident in Ohio where a two-year-old child lost their life.
