“Heated Rivalry” Cast Denounces Toxic Fan Behavior

Featured in:

The stars of the show “Heated Rivalry” are speaking out against negative behavior exhibited by certain fans. Hudson Williams and Francois Arnaud, who play key roles in the series, took to Instagram to jointly denounce any form of hateful or disrespectful comments from fans. They emphasized that true fans should not engage in racism, homophobia, biphobia, misogyny, ageism, ableism, parasocial behavior, or bigotry, stating that such negativity is not welcomed or accepted.

Several other cast members, including Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova, Robbie G. K., Sophie Nelisse, Harrison Browne, and Christina Chang, reposted the message in solidarity. Browne, who is transgender, highlighted the issue of transphobic comments and shared examples of negative remarks aimed at his casting.

Both the author of the original books, Rachel Reid, and the director of the show, Jacob Tierney, also echoed the message shared by the cast. The popular series on Crave has thrust its actors into the limelight, attracting a fan base that has unfortunately shown tendencies of toxic behavior.

Recent speculations surrounding the personal lives of actors Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie have sparked controversies. While Storrie emphasized the importance of representation over his private life, Williams faced accusations of queerbaiting following news of his girlfriend. Moreover, racial slurs and attacks on their appearances have been directed at them.

Pictures of Storrie and Arnaud together in public led to assumptions of a romantic relationship, inciting backlash against Arnaud. The actor has openly admitted to blocking certain apps and refraining from reading comments due to the hateful nature of some fans.

Director Jacob Tierney has expressed his disapproval of the toxic fan behavior, refusing to engage with negative comments or controversies surrounding the show or its actors. This alarming trend of cyberbullying and harassment from fanbases has also been observed in other TV shows and celebrities, prompting calls for kindness and respect in online interactions.

Overall, the cast and crew of “Heated Rivalry” are taking a stand against hate and discrimination, advocating for a more positive and supportive fan community.
