The B.C. Lions secured a 33-30 victory over the Calgary Stampeders in the West Division semifinal as Sean Whyte’s 43-yard walk-off field goal sealed the win in Vancouver. Quarterback Nathan Rourke had a strong performance, throwing for 223 yards on 16 of 23 completions and adding a rushing touchdown. Jeremiah Masoli and Robert Carter Jr. also contributed touchdowns for B.C., with Whyte making four field goals, including the game-winner.
On the other side, Calgary’s Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 334 yards, completing 23 of 33 attempts, and had touchdown passes to Clark Barnes and Jalen Philpott. Quincy Vaughn scored a rushing touchdown for the Stampeders, while Rene Paredes added two field goals, one from 50 yards out.
The Lions will now advance to face the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the West Division final on November 8 in Regina. In the East Division semifinal, the Montreal Alouettes secured a 42-33 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, setting up a matchup with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the East final on the same day. The winners of these division finals will compete at the Grey Cup in Winnipeg on November 16.
