Guelph was selected over the Kitchener Rangers as the finalist to host the Memorial Cup following a thorough evaluation process. An independent panel of sports experts visited both teams’ facilities before making the final decision. Scott Walker, partner and president of hockey operations for the Guelph Storm, expressed immense pride in being chosen to host the Memorial Cup during the city’s bicentennial year.
Mayor Cam Guthrie of Guelph also expressed excitement over the news, emphasizing the city’s readiness to make the 2027 Memorial Cup a central part of its bicentennial festivities. The exact dates for the tournament in spring 2027 will be announced at a later time. The upcoming Memorial Cup will take place in Kelowna, B.C., from May 21 to 31, 2026.
