“Dolly Parton’s Iconic Journey: A Broadway Musical Tribute”

Featured in:

Dolly Parton’s incredible journey from humble beginnings to fame has not only inspired her music but also led to the creation of a theme park, podcast, and now a musical set to debut on Broadway later this year.

Titled “Dolly: A True Original Musical,” the production promises an authentic portrayal of Parton’s life, narrated in her own words and through the songs that have influenced her. The musical will feature a mix of new compositions specifically crafted for the show and some of Parton’s greatest hits, including “I Will Always Love You,” “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “9 to 5.”

Scheduled to kick off in New York City on December 7, the performances are slated to continue until November 21, 2027. Parton, 80, emphasized in a video announcement that the musical delves into her real experiences, losses, loves, and her journey to success, rather than focusing solely on glamour.

Having premiered in Nashville last summer to a sold-out six-week run at the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts, “Dolly” received overwhelming praise from audiences. Director Bartlett Sher expressed admiration for the profound connection people feel with Parton, noting how she has been a source of inspiration and joy for many.

The musical aims to present Parton’s story in an unfiltered manner, shedding light on aspects of her life beyond the glitz and glam associated with her image. Tickets for the show will be available for purchase to the public starting Friday, July 10, via the official website.
