“HBO’s ‘The Pitt’ Leads 2026 Primetime Emmy Nominations”

Featured in:

The 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations were announced today, revealing HBO as the frontrunner with its show “The Pitt” leading the pack with 25 nods. Following closely is HBO’s “Hacks” with 24 nominations, setting a new record for the most comedy nominations in its final season, surpassing the previous record of 18 held by “Schitt’s Creek.”

Apple TV also made a mark with its series “Widow’s Bay” securing 19 nominations and “Pluribus” garnering 16 nods in the post-apocalyptic genre. However, “Heated Rivalry,” which airs in Canada on Crave like “The Pitt” and “Hacks,” did not receive any Emmy nominations due to being solely produced and financed by Canadian entities, failing to meet the Emmy eligibility criteria for foreign productions. Nonetheless, one of its co-leads, Connor Storrie, received a nomination for his role on “Saturday Night Live.”

The nominations were announced by previous Emmy winners Liza Colón-Zayas (“The Bear”) and Jeff Hiller (“Somebody Somewhere,” “Widow’s Bay”) at the Wolf Theatre in Los Angeles. The awards ceremony is scheduled for September 14, with Mariska Hargitay from “Law & Order: SVU” hosting, marking the first female host in 15 years.

This year, the Emmys will introduce a “legacy award” to honor programs that have had a significant and enduring impact on audiences, society, culture, and the industry. It is the first new Emmy category in almost two decades.

The nominees for various categories include:

– Best drama series
– Best comedy series
– Best limited or anthology series
– Lead actors and actresses in drama, comedy, and limited series
– Supporting actors and actresses in drama, comedy, and limited series
– Guest actors and actresses in drama and comedy
– Outstanding variety series
– Outstanding reality competition program
