Toronto Blue Jays’ leadoff hitter George Springer has been honored with a Silver Slugger award following a remarkable resurgence in the season. Springer clinched the award in the designated hitter category and also earned a nomination for outfielder. The 36-year-old American athlete showcased an impressive performance, hitting 32 home runs and 84 RBI with a .309 batting average and a .959 on-base-plus-slugging percentage, securing the second spot in the American League.
His stellar 2025 season marked a significant comeback from his career-low .220 batting average and 19 homers in 2024. Springer, a four-time all-star and the 2017 World Series MVP, had previously received Silver Slugger awards during his tenure with the Houston Astros in 2017 and 2019.
Notably, Springer’s impactful three-run homer in Game 7 of the recent AL Championship Series propelled the Blue Jays to the World Series, where they faced a compelling seven-game battle against the Los Angeles Dodgers. This monumental home run, dubbed the ‘Springer dinger,’ quickly became a part of the team’s illustrious history alongside iconic moments like the bat flip.
