Victoria Mboko from Toronto swiftly defeated Renata Zarazua 6-1, 6-1 in just 53 minutes, while Carson Branstine, a dual citizen of the United States and Canada hailing from Montreal, overcame Julia Garcia 6-3, 7-6 in the best-of-three final.

If Canada had lost any of the singles matches, they would have been compelled to compete in a must-win doubles match with Gabriela Dabrowski from Ottawa teaming up with Mboko against Giuliana Olmos and Zarazua. Canada’s path to the final showdown included a 2-1 victory over Denmark on Saturday, setting the stage for a decisive clash with Mexico after Mexico defeated Denmark 2-1 on Friday.

Carson Branstine kickstarted the showdown against Mexico with an impressive 6-3, 7-6 (5) singles win over Julia Garcia. Branstine, who switched allegiance from the United States to Canada in 2017, displayed a strong performance, claiming victory in one hour and 39 minutes against the 22-year-old Garcia, a crowd favorite.

During the match, Branstine landed one ace, faced three double faults, saved 3 out of 4 break points, and won 2 out of 5 break points. She maintained a 65% serve success rate and won 2 out of 10 return games. On the other hand, Garcia managed two aces, no double faults, saved 3 out of 5 break points, and won only 1 out of 11 return games.

Reflecting on her performance, Branstine admitted feeling a bit nervous before the match due to her limited recent playing time caused by a hamstring injury.
