The popular hockey series “Heated Rivalry” took home top honors at the Canadian Screen Awards, winning best drama series and best lead performer for Hudson Williams. The show had a successful night, earning a total of 16 Screen Awards in its first season after winning 13 awards from 18 nominations during the previous gala.

Another Canadian hit, the CBC/Netflix Arctic comedy “North of North,” secured best comedy series and best lead performer for Anna Lambe. The series, shot in Nunavut, received a total of seven awards during the previous gala and garnered a total of 20 nominations.

In the motion picture category, “Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie” claimed the best picture award, surpassing R.T. Thorne’s “40 Acres.” The film also earned additional awards, including best performance in a leading role for Jay McCarrol.

The event, held at the CBC Broadcast Centre in Toronto, attracted fans eager to see their favorite stars from “Heated Rivalry,” including Hudson Williams and Sophie Nélisse. Nélisse, who portrays Williams’s on-screen girlfriend and secured a Screen Award for best supporting performer, was honored with this year’s Radius Award.

The ceremony, hosted by Calgary-born actor Andrew Phung, celebrated Canadian talent that has gained international recognition. Comedian Mike Myers was presented with the Icon Award for his contributions to the industry, with fellow celebrities paying tribute to his work.
