“Jack Osbourne Defends Ozzy AI Avatar Creation”

Featured in:

Jack Osbourne has addressed criticism from fans regarding the creation of an AI avatar of his late father, Ozzy Osbourne, ensuring it will not be disappointing. The British media personality emphasized the tasteful and intricate nature of the project during a recent YouTube Q&A session. He clarified that it involves more than simply linking an image of his father to ChatGPT.

Following the announcement of the AI avatar, some fans expressed unease on social media platforms. Concerns were raised about whether Ozzy Osbourne would have approved of such a technological venture, considering his strong personality. The Osbourne family unveiled the initiative at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, in conjunction with tech companies Hyperreal and Proto Hologram, to digitally recreate Ozzy’s voice, image, and movements.

Describing the AI avatar as remarkably accurate, Jack Osbourne highlighted the advanced technology behind it, suggesting that Ozzy will live on digitally for as long as computers exist. Sharon Osbourne added that the avatar will be able to interact with fans, responding in Ozzy’s distinctive voice and style. The family envisions taking the avatar worldwide, drawing parallels to the enduring legacy of icons like Elvis Presley.

This endeavor follows a trend in the entertainment industry where deceased celebrities have been immortalized through holographic technology. Companies like Proto Hologram and Hyperreal have previously worked on holographic recreations of notable figures such as Stan Lee and Paul McCartney. Despite initial backlash, holographic performances of artists like Michael Jackson and Abba have been well-received by audiences.

The Ozzy Osbourne avatar is set to debut on life-sized interactive touchscreens, known as Proto Luma units, in the U.S. and U.K. later this summer, offering fans a unique opportunity to engage with the legendary rocker in a digital form.
