Britney Spears has recently entered a rehabilitation center for substance abuse, following her arrest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated with alcohol and drugs. A spokesperson for Spears confirmed that the 44-year-old singer had voluntarily admitted herself to the facility. The incident occurred on March 5 when reports came in about a BMW driving recklessly on U.S. 101 in Ventura County near the Los Angeles County border.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that Spears, a local resident, underwent field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs. After her arrest, she was taken to a county jail but was later released. The case was later transferred to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office on March 23 for further review, with a decision on potential charges expected before her court appearance on May 4.
A representative expressed disappointment in Spears’ actions, labeling them as “completely inexcusable” and emphasizing the need for significant changes in her life. Spears, who has been relatively inactive in her music career, last toured nearly eight years ago and has not released an album in almost a decade. In 2021, she gained autonomy over her personal and financial matters following the termination of a conservatorship that had been in place for nearly 14 years. Subsequently, she published a bestselling memoir titled “The Woman in Me” two years later.
The conservatorship was established after Spears completed a rehab program in California back in 2007.
