The Ottawa Redblacks have named Ryan Dinwiddie as their new head coach and general manager. Dinwiddie, who guided the Toronto Argonauts to two Grey Cup championships during his five-year tenure, steps in for Bob Dyce, who was dismissed after Ottawa’s underwhelming 4-14 season that saw them miss the CFL playoffs. Alongside his coaching responsibilities, Dinwiddie will also take on the role of general manager, with Shawn Burke, who was appointed to that position in December 2021, moving up to vice-president of football operations within the organization.

Dinwiddie’s transition from Toronto to Ottawa was facilitated by the fact that it represented a promotion from his previous role with the Argonauts. The Redblacks have struggled to make the playoffs in recent years, with this season marking the fifth time in the last six years that they have failed to qualify for the postseason since their defeat to the Calgary Stampeders in the 2018 Grey Cup.
