“Blue Jays World Series Tickets Reach Record Highs”

Featured in:

Toronto Blue Jays tickets for Game 6 of the World Series are commanding high prices, setting this year’s event on track to be one of the costliest in history. The Blue Jays, known as “Canada’s team,” are currently leading 3-2 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, sparking significant excitement among fans. Despite not winning a World Series since 1993, the Blue Jays have been defying expectations and are now facing a surge in ticket prices for the upcoming game.

The resale market data from Victory Live reveals that Game 6 ticket prices have surpassed $2,000 US ($2,800 Cdn) on average, and projections for a potential Game 7 suggest prices nearing $3,000 US ($4,200 Cdn). Daily trends indicate a steady increase in prices leading up to the game, causing frustration among both devoted baseball enthusiasts and casual supporters alike. Reports indicate that this year’s World Series may be the most expensive sporting event ever held in Canada.

As of the latest update, the lowest-priced ticket on Ticketmaster was listed at $1,462.50 for a seat in the Rogers Centre outfield district, while StubHub offered tickets starting at approximately $1,600. Comparisons with last year’s Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour resale prices at Rogers Centre show that Game 6 ticket prices are trailing but could potentially surpass those of the past event if a Game 7 showdown between the Blue Jays and Dodgers materializes.

The exorbitant ticket costs have prompted Ontario Premier Doug Ford to address the situation, expressing concerns about ticket price gouging by a single controlling entity in the market. Premier Ford’s remarks come amidst a backdrop of legislative changes in 2019 that removed certain restrictions on ticket resale pricing, highlighting the ongoing debate surrounding ticket affordability and accessibility.
