Former NHL player Ryan Kesler, previously a member of the Vancouver Canucks, is facing two charges of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in Michigan. The 41-year-old Kesler appeared in court via Zoom at Bloomfield Hills District Court where he entered a plea of not guilty to the misdemeanor charges. The alleged incidents took place on January 1 in Orchard Lake, Michigan.
Kesler’s bond was established at $50,000 US with a requirement of a 10% deposit. He was also instructed not to depart Michigan without court authorization and must be present for all future court appointments. A probable-cause conference is scheduled for November 6, followed by a preliminary examination on November 13.
Originally from Livonia, Michigan, Kesler played for the Vancouver Canucks from 2003 to 2014. He was subsequently traded to the Anaheim Ducks, where he continued his career until retiring in 2019. Kesler represented the United States at the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics. Notably, he received the Frank J. Selke Trophy in 2011 for being the NHL’s top defensive forward and was part of the Vancouver Canucks’ journey to the Stanley Cup final that same year.
