The Toronto Blue Jays secured a spot in the World Series, leading to an emotional response from veteran pitcher Max Scherzer as he anticipates his fourth appearance in the Fall Classic. Scheduled to start Game 3 in Los Angeles on Monday at 8 p.m. ET, Scherzer expressed his excitement at the opportunity confirmed by Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Having split the first two games in Toronto, with the Blue Jays taking Game 1 at 11-4 and the Dodgers responding with a 5-1 win in Game 2, the series is now set to continue in Los Angeles. Scherzer, a 41-year-old pitcher with a lengthy career spanning various teams, including the Diamondbacks, Tigers, Nationals, Mets, Rangers, and now the Blue Jays, boasts a remarkable record of 221 wins and 117 losses over 18 seasons.

Scherzer has previously made World Series appearances in 2012 with the Tigers, twice in 2019 with the Nationals, and once in 2023 with the Rangers. Alongside winning the Cy Young Award three times and earning eight All-Star selections, Scherzer is known for his passion for the game and its rich history.

Reflecting on the unpredictable nature of baseball, Scherzer emphasized the need to approach each game with readiness and highlighted the significance of playing in the World Series. Despite not initially being on Toronto’s roster for the AL Division Series, Scherzer’s pivotal performance in the AL Championship Series showcased his value to the team.

Schneider praised Scherzer’s intensity and professionalism, acknowledging his experience and dedication to the sport. Looking ahead, Scherzer is set to start Game 3, with the potential to be available for a decisive Game 7. On the Dodgers’ side, manager Dave Roberts revealed Tyler Glasnow as the Game 3 starter and Shohei Ohtani for Game 4, while commending Scherzer’s competitive spirit and baseball acumen.
